The family that once seemed settled and stable is changing. How do you get through the separation without losing yourself, how do you protect the children — and how do you begin to build a new life?
Separate groups for men and for women, giving the separation process a safe and focused space.
Guilt towards the children. Anger at a former partner. Fear of loneliness. Shame in front of family and friends. And sometimes an urge to erase or undo whole years of the past. Divorce can stir up contradictory feelings of very high intensity.
"Am I hurting the children?", "How do we go on raising them together when we can no longer even talk?" When every conversation about the children turns into a confrontation, even small decisions can feel like war.
A separation is not only the end of a relationship. Often it is also a change in identity, in routine, in finances, in the home, in social circles, and in the picture you held of the future. Now it all has to be built again.
Separate groups for men and for women make it possible to speak openly about the experience of separation, without having to face inside the group itself the tension and defensiveness that can arise between partners on opposite sides of the conflict.
The group can help work through grief and emotional separation, step out of patterns of blame, victimhood or ongoing struggle, and build clearer boundaries in shared parenting. The aim is to keep the children out of the conflict as far as possible, to rebuild a sense of self-worth, and to allow a gradual openness to the next chapter of life.
